Toronto, ON- With apologies to the ubiquitous bumper sticker, people around the world are invited to Masturbate Locally, Masturbate Globally this year during the world's first global masturbate-a-thon. Co-sponsored by Come As You Are and Homegrown Video, this year people will be able to log-on and donate, while enjoying the voyeuristic thrill of the world's most commonly practiced sexual behaviour.

Over the past seven years thousands of people from across Canada and the US have signed up, got off, and raised funds in the most fun philanthropy around. Over $25,000 (US$) has been raised for worthy sexual health organizations. This year's recipient is the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom.

"Since 1998 we've been holding the masturbate-a-thon, and the most commonly asked question has been 'where can I watch?' This year we decided to answer that question and let people give to a worthy cause and indulge their voyeuristic interests all at the same time" says Cory Silverberg a worker-owner with Come As You Are.

On May 14th, a group of dedicated and highly skilled performers doing their best to keep online viewers excited and "motivated to give" during this one of a kind fundraiser. With a single donation, people around the globe will be able to log on and participate in a global act of kindness and a celebration of self-pleasure.

With apologies to the ubiquitous bumper sticker, we think it’s high time that we figure out a way to act, think, and pleasure ourselves locally, nationally, and globally. And 2005 is the year we help you take it to the streets (well, the virtual street at least).

Masturbation Month is right around the corner, and we are buzzing with excitement over this year’s event. For the past seven years we’ve celebrated May as National Masturbation Month. Over those years we’ve raised thousands of dollars for hard-working organizations like Voices of Positive Women in Toronto and Stella in Montreal. We’ve had hundreds of participants from Victoria to St. John’s, and each year we get press from around the world and we receive hundreds of calls at our store from individuals wanting to participate. What has always been frustrating (for us and our callers) is that most people aren’t interested in performance participation; most of them just want to watch.

After years of scratching our heads, we’ve come up with a perfect post-modern solution. This year you’ll be able to go online, watch others perform in a masturbate-a-thon, donate to a great cause (the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom), and since you’re in the privacy of your own home, your free to “participate” on your own (it’s a self-referential love-in).

It all began when we approached the lovely and talented Seska Lee (she of the phenomenal website, Seska 4 Lovers).With Seska’s help we secured the co-operation and co-sponsorship of Homegrown Video .Homegrown Video is the longest running, most successful amateur video series of all time.
